Buvidal is available in the following doses:

For weekly injection: Pre-filled syringes containing Buvidal 8 mg (0.16ml), 16 mg (0.32ml), 24 mg (0.48ml) and 32 mg (0.64ml) prolonged-release solution for injection.

For monthly injection: Pre-filled syringes containing Buvidal 64 mg (0.18ml), 96 mg (0.27ml), 128 mg (0.36ml) and 160 mg (0.45ml) prolonged-release solution for injection.

How to distinguish between the products

The weekly and monthly Buvidal products are differentiated by the colour of the packaging, and the text “once weekly” or “once monthly” printed on each respective pack.

The individual doses are also differentiated by different colours on the package.

Storage

Buvidal is a licensed controlled drug and therefore must be stored securely in an appropriate locked drugs cabinet that meets the requirements set out in The Misuse of Drugs (Safe Custody) Regulations 1973 (Schedule 2 Structural Requirements In Relation To Safes, Cabinets And Rooms Used For Keeping Drugs)

As part of the purchase of Buvidal when prescribed for its licensed indictaion, Camurus Ltd can provide a controlled drug cabinet of appropriate dimensions. Interested parties should contact their local Camurus representative and ask for further information about the ‘Buvidal Package Deal’.

Buvidal should be stored at room temperature and should never be refrigerated or frozen. The product has a shelf-life of 3 years. Always check the expiry date on the box before use.
